Starting with a successful three years of health radio programming in the Pursat Province, radio programming has gone national with local programming in each of the six provinces where ADRA Cambodia works. The National Radio Program improves knowledge of and behavioral response to reflect a healthy and vibrant lifestyle among communities.
Objectives include:
Communities will have increased understanding of essential information on health, water and sanitation and food security services.
Youth and adults will use the information they learn when making behavioral choices regarding their health and lifestyle.
Youth and adults will seek help from available services in areas such as HIVAIDS, counseling, literacy, water and sanitation, food security, nutrition, and reproductive and child health.
Youth and adults will have increased knowledge about tobacco, alcohol and drug use.
At the beginning of the programming for each provincial area or sector, a detailed plan is made for programming themes and ideas throughout the project. Programs include individual counseling talk shows, group counseling talk shows, telephone call talk shows, educational songs and poetry, listeners’ letters, prerecorded mini dramas and sharing news articles. Radio guests include experts from the national and provincial health, water and sanitation and food security government departments, NGOs, and other organizations, community leaders and the beneficiaries themselves giving personal testimonies.
